MEMBER GUIDE

Using GolfCommish

Everything you need to know as a group member — from accepting your invitation through checking the leaderboard after a round. Use the links below to jump to any section.

1 Joining the Group

Your commissioner adds you to the group and an invitation email goes to your address. Click Accept Invitation in that email to reach the account setup page, where you set a password and confirm your name. After that you're in and can log in any time at golfcommish.com.

If you didn't receive the invitation email, check your spam folder or ask your commissioner to resend it from your member record.

If you belong to more than one group, a group switcher appears in the top nav so you can jump between them without logging out.

2 Your Profile

Click your name in the top-right corner and choose Profile to manage your account settings. The page has four sections:

Contact Info

Update your first name, last name, email address, and phone number. If you change your email address you'll need to verify the new address before it takes effect.

GHIN Number

Enter your GHIN number to link your official handicap index. The app fetches your current index automatically and keeps it in sync. Your handicap index is used to calculate your course handicap — the number that appears next to your name in the groupings and on the tee sheet.

If your last name in GolfCommish doesn't match the name on your GHIN record, a mismatch warning appears. Correct your last name or GHIN number and save to re-sync.

If you don't use GHIN, your commissioner can set a manual handicap override for you.

Preferred Tees

For each course your group plays, you can set which tee box you play from. The app uses this to calculate your course handicap accurately for every playing day. Your commissioner can also set this for you from your member record.

Away Period

Going on vacation or missing a stretch of weeks? Set an Away From / Away Until date range. While you're marked away:

  • Availability request emails won't be sent to you for playing days in that window
  • You appear in a separate "Away" section on the playing day availability page so your commissioner can see why you're missing
  • A banner appears at the top of your Calendar so you can see the active away period at a glance

You can clear or update your away period at any time. Your commissioner can also set it for you.

3 Calendar — Upcoming Playing Days

Click Calendar in the top nav to see all upcoming playing days scheduled for your group.

Each row shows the play date, course, entry fee, and your current availability status. Your status is shown as a colored badge — green for I'm in, red for Out, yellow for Maybe, or gray for No response.

Click Change next to the badge to update your status directly from the calendar list, or click View to open the full playing day detail page.

4 Responding to Availability Requests

Via Email

When your commissioner sends an availability request, you get an email with three one-click buttons: I'm In, I'm Out, and Maybe. Clicking any button records your response instantly — no login required.

Your commissioner may also send a monthly availability email covering several upcoming playing days at once. It works the same way — one set of buttons per date listed in the message.

In the App

You can change your response any time from the Calendar or from the playing day detail page. On the detail page, your current status appears under My Response with I'm in, Out, and Maybe buttons. Changes take effect immediately.

If your response date falls within your away period, the app asks you to confirm before recording "I'm in" — so an accidental tap doesn't override your away status.

Your commissioner can also set your status directly, for example if you let them know by text or phone. A note appears on the detail page when the commissioner has set your status, but you can still update it yourself.

5 Playing Day Details

Click any row in your Calendar (or click View) to open the playing day detail page. It has up to four sections:

Day Info

Shows the course, entry fee, and game for the day. Click View Rules → next to the game name to see the full rules without leaving the page. Any notes from your commissioner appear here as well.

My Response

Three buttons — I'm in, Out, Maybe — let you update your availability from the detail page. The currently active response is highlighted.

Groupings & Tee Times

Once your commissioner builds and publishes the groupings, the full tee sheet appears here. Your group is highlighted with a green card showing your tee time, starting hole (for split or shotgun starts), your playing partners, and each player's course handicap. The complete field is listed below in tee time order.

If groupings haven't been published yet, the section shows a placeholder until they're ready.

Results

After the round, when your commissioner enters the results, they appear at the bottom of the page — award labels (e.g., "1st Place," "Low Net," "Skins"), the winners, and payouts if applicable.

6 Leaderboard

Click Leaderboard in the top nav. The leaderboard ranks all active group members for the current season.

A strip at the top shows your personal standing — your rank, wins, rounds played, and total winnings for the year at a glance.

Sort the full table by Wins, Rounds, or Winnings using the tabs. Use the year picker in the top-right corner to browse prior seasons.

7 Archive

Click Archive in the top nav to browse all past playing days — listed most recent first — with the date, course, game, and first-place winners for each. Results are shown once the commissioner has entered them.

8 My Playing History

Click your name in the top-right corner and choose My History to see a personal record of every playing day you've been in a grouping for.

Stats at the top show your totals: Rounds Played, 1st Place Wins, Win Rate, and Winnings. The table below lists each round with the date, course, game, your result (win label or "Played"), and your winnings for that day. Rows where you placed first are highlighted in green.

Tips & Reminders

  • Set your GHIN number in your profile so your course handicap calculates correctly in every grouping.
  • Set your preferred tee for each course your group plays — your commissioner can't always know which tees you play from.
  • Use the away period in your profile when you're going to miss several weeks — you won't receive availability emails during that window and your commissioner will know why.
  • You can respond to availability requests directly from the email without logging into the app — the one-click buttons work for all three statuses.
  • Your tee time and playing partners become visible in the app once your commissioner publishes the groupings — check back after the deadline.
