Getting started

Who is GolfCommish for?

GolfCommish is built for the person who runs a regular golf group — the one who tracks who's playing each week, sets the pairings, and fires off the Saturday morning email. If you've been juggling spreadsheets, group texts, and copy-pasted emails, this is built for you.

It works for groups of any size: a tight foursome that plays every Friday, a rotating 20-person league, or anything in between.

How long will it take me to set everything up?

Most commissioners are up and running in about 15 minutes. A first-time setup checklist walks you through four steps: add your home course, add your members (manually or via CSV import), schedule a playing day, and send your first pre-round email.

What do my members need to know if I start using GolfCommish?

Not much. They'll get an email invitation when you add them — they click a link, set a password, and they're in. After that, they receive availability requests and pre-round emails from you through GolfCommish, just like any other email.

There's no app to download. Everything works in a browser on their phone or computer. If they want to check tee times, groupings, or their own playing history, they can log in at any time.

Do my members need to create accounts?

Yes, but it's painless. When you add a member, they get an invitation email with a link to set up their account — name, email, and a password. It takes about a minute.

Once they're in, they can respond to availability requests, view upcoming playing days, and see their own history. You stay in control of everything else.

Features

How does GolfCommish save me time?

The four main jobs — handicaps, availability, groupings, and the pre-round email — each used to require separate manual effort. GolfCommish ties them together:

Handicaps pull from GHIN automatically each week, so you're not re-typing numbers from a website.

Availability goes out as a single email; players tap In / Out / TBD, and the tally updates live for you.

Groupings build in seconds — by handicap spread, playing history, or your own constraints — and you drag to tweak.

The pre-round email is pre-filled with tee times, pairings, the game format, and course rules. You review and hit send.

What is GHIN, and do my members need one?

GHIN (Golf Handicap and Information Network) is the USGA's official handicap system used by most golf clubs and courses in the US. If a member has a GHIN number, GolfCommish syncs their handicap index automatically each week — or on demand any time you want it fresh.

Members without a GHIN can still be part of your group. You can enter a manual handicap for them and update it whenever you like. GHIN sync is a convenience, not a requirement.

Does GolfCommish work for any golf course?

Yes. You can look up a course by name and we'll pull in tee and rating data automatically. If your course isn't in our database, you can add it manually in a few clicks.

You can manage as many courses as your group plays, each with its own tee sets. Switching courses from week to week is straightforward.

Can I manage more than one group?

Yes. The Club plan supports up to five active groups under one account. Each group has its own members, schedule, courses, and history — all managed from a single login. You switch between groups with one click.

The Solo plan covers one group, which is the right fit for most commissioners.

Can someone else help me manage my group?

Yes. You can designate any member of your group as a co-commissioner. Co-commissioners have full access to scheduling, groupings, email, and settings — without needing your login credentials.

Billing

How does billing work?

Every account starts with a 30-day free trial — no credit card required. After the trial, plans are:

Solo — $10/month: one active group, one commissioner. Everything included.

Club — $30/month: up to five active groups, multi-course support, season history and exports, priority support.

We'll never charge you without notice, and you can cancel any time.

Beta note: While GolfCommish is in active beta, all accounts are completely free. We'll give you advance notice before billing ever begins.

What if I want to cancel?

You can cancel at any time from your account settings — no cancellation fees, no hoops to jump through. Your group's data remains accessible through the end of your billing period.

If you'd like to export your history or member list before leaving, you can do that too.

Privacy & data

Do you sell my data?

No. We don't sell, rent, or share your personal information or your group's data with third parties. Your member list is yours.
